This month's Emergency Preparedness subject expands off of May's initial subject of Personal Information. The May Workshop was well received by all those who attended. The Program overview was explained I and a discussion was held concerning the monthly subjects. The focus and intent of the Neighborhood Emergency Preparedness Committee to provide awareness through information remains strong. The ultimate goal is to have at least one household per neighborhood street that will take the initiative to encourage and empower their neighbors to be informed, knowledgeable and prepared to "fend for themselves" when disaster strikes. With a systematic and logically sequenced plan, every household will develop the basic "tools" that will ensure their survival for the critical first 48 to 72 hours after a "disastrous" event. Dependence of local public services response (Fire, Police and Ambulance) can be very trying during a major disaster. I you have not filled out your Personal Information sheets, please take a few minutes to do so this month. The whole purpose of the Program is for the whole household to participate - communicate and input, as a family project. The June insert page identifies your Personal Property A (Identification) listing of your major appliances, valuables, and records for quick reference. The key to being well-prepared is being well-organized! The follow-up Workshop date is scheduled for Wednesday, June 2 at 7:30 PM in the Lounge.
