Science of Golf

The Youth Science Institute will hold its first annual tournament, The Science of Golf, on Sept. 30, 1 p.m., at the Cinnabar Hills Golf Course. The entry fee of $225 per player ($900 for a foursome) includes green fees, a golf cart, tee prizes, lunch and dinner.

YSI is a local nonprofit education organization that provides hands-on science education for more than 30,000 Silicon Valley children each year.

Chiefs lacrosse

Lincoln tourney

The 13th annual Lincoln High School Booster Club golf tournament will be held on Oct. 11 at the Santa Teresa Golf Course. The cost is $175 per player or $700 for a foursome. For more information, call athletic director Kevin Collins at 408.535.6300, ext. 216.

McIntyre Classic

The 11th annual Guy McIntyre Golf Classic will be held on Oct. 11 at the Golf Club at Boulder Ridge. The registration fee of $195 includes green fees, range balls, prizes, golf cart, lunch and dinner. Greg Jamison, president and CEO of the San Jose Sharks, will be the featured speaker at the dinner. Tickets for the dinner only are $50.

McIntyre, a former San Francisco 49er great, annually lends his name to the golf tournament hosted by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, an organization that challenges athletes to play their sports drug- and alcohol-free and to use their athletic platform to have a positive influence on their teams, at their schools and in their communities.
