Construction has restarted on the much-anticipated Whole Foods Market near the corner of Almaden Expressway and Blossom Hill Road, and it is expected to open in August 2010, company representatives said.

Work on the supermarket began in August, and Whole Foods has scaled back the size of the store from 60,000 square feet to 50,000 square feet, said Glen Moon, the company’s vice president of development for Northern California.

Moon said the store also will have several shops next to it that will total another 24,000 square feet.

Another Whole Foods Market is planned for the corner of The Alameda and Stockton Avenue, but Moon said an opening date has not been set for that store.

Construction of the Blossom Hill store is of higher priority, Moon said.
