UNSCC has joined the City of Morgan Hill, San Jose Councilperson Pat Dando, State Assemblyman Mike Honda, Cisco Systems, Inc., and the Green Party of Santa Clara County in opposing the Calpine proposal to build and operate a natural gas power plant on Metcalf Road in south San Jose. This position was adopted by a vote of 8-2-8 by the General Members represented at the Advisory Council meeting on March 16th, and was approved at the April 5th meeting of the UNSCC Board of Directors by a vote of 6-2. As with all public positions taken by United Neighborhoods, this is an expression of UNSCC as a coalition of neighborhood associations - but it is not binding upon any UNSCC member organization (each may take its own position on the subject).
