President's Message
Happy New Year!

Several Board Members got together during the month of December to view the lights in the neighborhood.  We were again amazed at the great designs.  So many people went to a great deal of effort to decorate for the holidays.

The adult pool is open.  Paul Benedetti did a great job.  We have now closed the main pool for the winter.

On Dec. 14th Jackie put on the Open House.  Santa was handing out gifts, having his picture taken with the kids while everyone enjoyed goodies, music and holiday cheer.

The New Years Eve Party looks to be another success.  There are still tickets available, just call the office and your tickets can be delivered to your home.

The Board of Directors has spent several volunteer hours to insure the club is staffed and maintained for the membership.  Activities will continue throughout the year.

Dennis Bane,
President

Comments From Participants of Aqua Aerobic and Circuit Training Classes.

The water is warm, I bring a big fluffy robe to wear when I get out of the pool for the short drive home.

My blood pressure has dropped several points since I have been doing the Aqua Aerobic classes.

My arms and legs are so much stronger since I have been doing Circuit Training classes.

Hey, Santa I need new pants since I have dropped two pant sizes in 5 months from doing Aqua Aerobic & Circuit Training Classes.

No matter what kind of a day Jackie Demmy has had she always brings energy, excitement and FUN to each class.

Scouting News
Welcome 1999!!!  The New Year is here and Troop 227 is looking forward to another year of Scouting.  January's outing will be a Pinnacles National Monument, with a "Rim Rover" hike planned as part of the Rim of the Bay hiking program.  The Troop will also be attending the Winter Awareness Clinic conducted by the Council's High Adventure Team in preparation for the February cold weather camping trip to the Sierra's.

During December, the Troop held it's winter Court of Honor on December 10th.  After the awards were given, the Scouts decorated a tree that was donated to the Santa Maria Urban Mission which is a shelter for battered women and children.  The tree and lights were donated by Orchard Supply Hardware and the decorations were made by the Scouts.

Beginning with the January meeting, we will be starting at 7:00 and ending at 8:30 PM.

Troop 227 meets at the Club on Thursday evenings and we encourage boys between the ages of 10 1/2 and 18 to come visit our Troop. The Troop has an exciting program planned for 1999 that promises to be filled with fun and adventure, as well as learning life skills and good citizenship.
For more information about the Boy Scout Program, call Jim Becker.
